Job Title: Lab Manager

The Lab Manager oversees the operation of the lab, ensuring quality and same-day service standards are met. This position also supervises the Lab Technicians.

What Would You Do? The Specifics?

• Optimize and oversee the lab to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
• Identify areas for improvement and develop action plans. Provide world-class service by respecting customers, offering prompt and courteous assistance, and understanding their needs.
• Execute same-day service using the “Ready When Promised” production board.
• Perform machine maintenance to keep all lab equipment clean and functional. Address malfunctions immediately and inform the General Manager and retail staff of any delays.
• Ensure safety rules are followed, including mandatory protective eyewear for lab technicians at all times.
• Control inventory shrinkage by monitoring and recording breakage and maintaining accurate inventories of lenses and lab supplies.
• Supervise and motivate Lab Technicians, ensuring timely completion of daily tasks.
• Assist the General Manager with recruiting, selecting, and retaining high-quality lab staff.
• Delegate work appropriately to maximize organizational goals and individual development.
• Schedule lab associates in accordance with payroll guidelines, considering skill levels.
• Ensure all lab associates are properly trained on equipment and continue developing their skills. Collaborate with the Training Department for ongoing training and development.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing coaching with all associates.
