Corning Incorporated invites engineering and computer science students to join a 10‑week summer internship in North Carolina. You will support technology development, analyze data, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive equipment and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS/MS in Engineering or Computer Science or related field (undergraduate/graduate).
• Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology (e.g. designing and using critical experiments).
• Data/statistical analysis skills.
• Analytical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly.
• Working knowledge or experience with design of experiments (DOE) concepts.
• Available for 10 weeks Summer 2027 (May–August 2027) with a graduation date in/after Dec 2027.
• Interested in Corning, Inc after graduation for potential full-time opportunities.

Responsibilities

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry‑leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical‑based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical‑based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position

Support technology development by using quality principles to improve manufacturing equipment and processes, improve products or to design, build, & evaluate prototypes. Analyze data to develop product, process, or equipment improvements. Give recommendations for improvements, present findings, and document work. Actively engage with cross‑functional project teams to solve problems efficiently and effectively with the objective of meeting project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May‑August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
• Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full‑time job opportunity.

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
