Job summary

Corning is seeking an Optical Fiber Summer Intern in Winston-Salem, NC for Summer 2027. You will join an engineering team to develop and evaluate prototypes, analyze data, and present findings. Housing/travel assistance and a meaningful final project presentation are included.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, experience with engineering fundamentals, data analysis, and DOE concepts, with a potential for full-time opportunities after graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical or related engineering.
• Available for 10 weeks in Summer 2027 (May–August 2027) with graduation in Dec 2027 or later.
• Interested in Corning, Inc. after graduation for full-time opportunities.
• Willing to work at the posted location in Winston–Salem, NC.
• Familiarity with engineering process fundamentals and scientific methodology.
• Data/statistical analysis skills.
• Analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build relationships and work in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to present information.
• Results-oriented.
• Working knowledge of DOE concepts.

Responsibilities

• Own key project objectives in a team environment.
• Interface with engineering and operations groups to assess impact of changes.
• Ensure clear communication to address concerns and gain buy-in.
• Review performance data on new processes/findings and draw conclusions.
• Communicate effectively to personnel up to staff level.
