Opportunity Overview

We are seeking an experienced Optical Calibration Engineer to join our team of optical engineers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the precision and reliability of optical measurements. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of optical test instruments and systems through meticulous calibration processes. This role requires extensive optical engineering knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality test instruments for the silicon photonics market.

Responsibilities
  1. Research and Development: Develop new calibration techniques and improve existing methods for optical test instrumentation. Stay updated on advancements in optical technologies and incorporate best practices.
  2. Calibration Processes: Execute and refine calibration procedures for various optical instruments, including lasers, optical power meters, polarizers, and cameras.
  3. Data Analysis: Analyze calibration data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement. Use statistical methods to ensure reliability and validity of results.
  4. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of calibration strategies, tests, results, and corrective actions. Prepare detailed reports and manuals.
  5. Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality protocols to meet industry standards and regulations.
  6. Training: Provide training and guidance to technical staff on calibration techniques and optical instruments. Develop training materials and conduct workshops.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline; Master’s preferred; certifications in optical engineering are a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience in:
    • Optical principles, calibration techniques, and industry standards.
    • Optical calibration, preferably in semiconductor manufacturing/testing or related industry.
    • Familiarity with optical instruments and calibration standards used in telecom products (O-band to L-band): laser sources, fibers, polarizers, switches, connectors, amplifiers, and fiber alignment units.
    • Experience with optical test systems for wafer probing of silicon photonics devices is preferred.
    • Development and debugging of optical active alignment systems is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software.
