WHOOP is seeking a Sensor Intelligence Engineer II to advance next-generation biomedical optical sensing technologies. The role blends physics modeling, hands-on experimentation, and data analysis to deliver physiological insights for WHOOP members.

Responsibilities include evaluating optical sensing concepts, processing time-series data, and collaborating across hardware, firmware, and data science teams to translate research into scalable capabilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, Optics, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of industry or research experience in biomedical optical sensing systems, signal processing, or algorithms.
• Experience analyzing raw time-series and multidimensional optical sensor data (PPG, etc.).
• Experience analyzing time-series data from biomedical sensors (PPG, ECG, IMU, EMG).
• Proficiency in Python, C, or C++ for data analysis and prototyping.

Responsabilités

• Drive evaluation and development of next-gen optical sensing concepts with defined requirements and validation criteria.
• Analyze raw time-series and multidimensional optical sensor data and construct signal processing workflows.
• Develop, validate, and improve physiological sensing principles via physics modeling and experimentation.
• Analyze biomedical sensor data to assess performance, identify artifacts, and propose improvements.
• Develop or improve multiphysics simulation platform to optimize sensor performance.
• Collaborate with Hardware, Firmware, Data Science, Research, and Product to translate findings into scalable WHOOP capabilities.
