Boscov’s Department Store, LLC is seeking an Optical Associate to dispense spectacles and contact lenses and guide customers on lens options and frames. Join a fast-paced Optical team that values customer service and teamwork.

The role requires dispensing eyewear, measuring prescriptions, and using equipment like a lensometer and autorefractor. This is a part-time, in-store position with opportunities to grow within a trusted department store.

Qualifications

• 1 year of optical experience
• 1 year of experience working in a retail store
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Prior sales experience, preferred

Responsibilities

• Verify prescription orders for accuracy and maintain organized order files.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in person and by phone and explain products and services.
• Interpret prescriptions, perform optical measurements, verify prescriptions with a lensometer, and recommend frame/lens options.
• Manage order fulfillment by updating status and processing sales and payments.
• Perform eyewear fittings, adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting for proper fit.
• Operate and maintain optical equipment (lensometer, autorefractor, NCT).
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
• Assist Optical Manager with opening/closing, cash reconciliation, and POS accuracy.
• Foster positive relationships with store leadership and colleagues for a collaborative environment.
• Keep the optical department clean, organized, and customer-friendly.

Job Responsibilities

• Verify prescription orders for accuracy by comparing system entries to the prescribing doctor's original prescription and maintain organized order files using established store procedures.
• Deliver exceptional customer service in person and by phone by assisting customers, explaining products and services, and creating a welcoming, professional experience.
• Accurately interpret prescriptions, perform optical measurements, verify prescriptions using a lensometer, recommend appropriate frame and lens options, and ensure proper frame selection based on prescription requirements.
• Manage the order fulfillment process by updating order status, notifying customers when orders are ready, dispensing complete eyewear, and accurately processing all sales and payment transactions.
• Perform eyewear fittings, adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting to ensure proper fit, comfort, and visual performance.
• Operate and maintain optical equipment, including the lensometer, autorefractor, and non-contact tonometer (NCT), in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies, HIPAA requirements, and confidentiality standards.
• Support daily store operations by assisting the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures, cash reconciliation, and maintaining accurate point-of-sale transactions.
• Foster positive working relationships with Boscov's store leadership and associates to promote a collaborative customer-focused environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical department that supports an exceptional customer experience.

Job Requirements
