Job summary

Seneca Resources in New York seeks a senior telecommunications engineer with hands-on DWDM network design and deployment experience.

You will commission, test, troubleshoot, and validate optical transport equipment, develop scopes of work, BOMs, test plans, and as-built documentation.

Candidates should know fiber-optic communications, transmission theory, and related technologies (SONET, TDM, Ethernet, MPLS) and communicate clearly with teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on DWDM equipment experience required.
• Strong fiber-optic knowledge and transmission theory.
• Experience with SONET, TDM, Ethernet, MPLS.
• Proficient with optical test gear (OTDRs, power meters, spectrum analyzers).
• Ability to document work and create BOMs, test plans, MOPs, and as-built docs.
• Able to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Job description

• Strong hands-on experience with DWDM network design, deployment, operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of fiber-optic communications, optical transmission theory, wavelength management, and optical power/loss budgets.
• Strong understanding of SONET, TDM, Ethernet, MPLS, DWDM, and related transport technologies.
• Experience commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and validating optical transport equipment and networks.
• Hands-on experience using optical testing equipment such as OTDRs, optical power meters, light sources, optical spectrum analyzers, and fiber-inspection equipment.
• Experience performing BERT and physical/transport-layer validation during circuit commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing engineering drawings, scopes of work, bills of materials, test plans, implementation procedures, MOPs, and as-built documentation.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications network reliability, redundancy, resiliency, capacity, and disaster-recovery principles.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles as they relate to telecommunications and critical infrastructure.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
