Job summary

Florida Department of Health seeks an OPS Professional Engineer II to support the Safe Drinking Water Act and Public Swimming Pool programs. You will review permits, analyze reports, and ensure regulatory compliance with Florida codes.

Responsibilities include data entry, maintaining audit-ready records, and working with state agencies to uphold safety standards. PE licensure in Florida and two years post-registration experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with a major in engineering or sciences, with a master's in engineering preferred.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida per Florida Statute 471 and two years of post-registration experience.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in civil and/or environmental engineering.
• Two years working as a Professional Engineer in water treatment processes and regulatory compliance for the Safe Drinking Water Act.

• Review Community Water System (CWS) construction permit applications and clearance requests.
• Review CWS Compliance Inspection and Sanitary Survey reports.
• Review CWS Monthly Operating Reports, chemical analysis results and enter data into state database.

• Maintain meticulous records for audits by the Florida Department of Health and Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

This is professional work performing engineering duties for the Safe Drinking Water Act program and the Public Swimming Pool program. A working knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act program and Public Swimming Pool program with related rules and regulations including Florida Administrative Codes 62-550, 62-555, 62-560 and 64E-9 is necessary to perform required duties. The OPS Professional Engineer IIcomplies withall standards thataccompanythis description andis responsible forthe accuracy, integrity, security and privacy of client, employee, and program information under the direct control of this position.

Qualifications

Minimum-

• Bachelor's degree from anaccredited college or university with a major inengineeringor
• Bachelor’s degree from anaccredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences, environmental health, or public health,anda master’s degree in engineering from a U.S. accredited college or university.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Floridain accordance withFlorida Statute 471 and two years of post-registration experience.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the areas of civil and/or environmental engineering.

Experience :

• 2 yearsworking as a Professional Engineer in water treatment processes and design, including experience in regulatory compliancepertaining tothe Federal and State Safe Drinking Water Acts.
• 2 years inEnvironmental and/or civil engineering regulatory functions.
