Job summary

The State of Florida Department of Health in Bay County is seeking an OPS Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing services in clinics and support staff under DOH Bay. This temporary OPS position requires a licensed LPN, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

Your Specific Responsibilities

This position provides practical nursing services to clients at the Florida Department of Health in Bay County (DOH Bay) and at other sites under the auspices of DOH Bay. This position is responsible for nursing services provided in clinics as well as assisting clinicians, nurses, and health support technicians assigned to the site. This position is responsible for the integrity and confidentiality of data sets under their control.

Serves as the back-up to the VFC Coordinator, manages vaccine inventory and orders vaccine supplies.

Interviews clients, collects health data, and records health histories. Assists clinicians and nurses in clinics and as required, administers medications, treatments, and immunizations, all according to local protocols.

Provides counseling/education to clients, parents, and guardians regarding immunizations, family planning, STDs and other public health issues. Administers immunizations to children and adults; provides immunization off-site, as needed, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Assists health support technicians with vital signs, screening procedures, diagnostic tests, and specimen collection.

Documents assessment information in the patient record, using SOAP format when appropriate. Documents services, counseling, education, and referrals provided. Completed Employee Activity Records (EARs), timesheets, leave and attendance reports, and other reports in a timely manner, as required.

Assists with triage and other client services.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Valid driver's license

This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
