A state emergency management agency is seeking a Field Deputy Logistics Section Chief to manage logistics during emergency responses. The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) plans for and responds to both natural and man-made disasters. FDEM is the liaison between federal, state, and local agencies. FDEM prepares and implements a statewide Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, routinely conducts exercises to test state and county emergency response capabilities, provides technical assistance to local governments as they prepare emergency plans and procedures, and conducts emergency operations trainings for state and local government agencies.
FDEM serves as the lead agency for the State Emergency Response Team (SERT), coordinating efforts during disaster response and recovery. This coordination occurs within the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in Tallahassee. FDEM manages the State Watch Office, a 24-hour operation providing situational awareness statewide. After a disaster, FDEM conducts damage assessment surveys and advises the Governor on declarations and federal relief funds. FDEM emphasizes its mission to coordinate, collaborate and communicate with community stakeholders for a resilient Florida and its vision of leading the profession in building prepared and resilient communities.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Field Deputy Logistics Section Chief plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of incident support services. This position oversees various logistical aspects, including resource ordering and tracking, facility management, transportation, supplies, and equipment maintenance. This position is a General Staff level position on Florida’s State All-Hazards Incident Management Team and requires deployment to incident locations during times of disaster or other emergency event.
