Job Summary

The OPS Assistant Coach of Women’s Swim will report to the Head Women’s Swimming and Diving Coach. The responsibilities of this person include but are not limited to overseeing practice, games, appearances, and other FGCU Swimming and Diving and FGCU Athletic functions. The incumbent will also support program functions to include travel opportunities, fundraising efforts and practice and gameday support. Responsible for assisting the coaching staff with administering all facets of an NCAA Division I program. The person must adhere to all rules and regulations associated with our program, Florida Gulf Coast University, ASUN Conference and the NCAA.

Typical Duties

• Assists with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
• Prepares and conducts practice sessions.
• Teaches individual and group skills and techniques.
• Assists with meet strategy and event assignments.
• Coordinates team travel arrangements and logistics.
• Monitors academic progress and status of team members, implementing action plans when needed.
• Monitors and maintains discipline and conduct of athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
• Promote the athletic program through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing.
• Complies with all University, ASUN regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations.
• Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University and ASUN rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics.
• This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable.

Other Duties

Travels throughout the country and internationally as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
