Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer – Signal and Image Process Engineering and Artificial Intelligence to join the Space-Based OPIR Operations and Sustainment team at Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, CO.

The role focuses on performance analysis, tool development in Python, and AI/ML-driven improvements for missile warning systems. Requirements include a Bachelor’s in a technical field, 12+ years of relevant experience for senior roles, Python proficiency, and a U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience including systems analysis with analysis tool development and missile warning performance evaluation.
• Demonstrated coding experience with Python and associated data science, engineering, or scientific Python libraries.
• Experience establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with government customers, prime and support contractors, and key stakeholders.
• Current Secret clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team lead to assess Missile Warning and Battlespace Awareness mission processing performance.
• Design and develop Python-based analysis tools for missile warning and battlespace awareness.
• Integrate OPIR sensor data with ground processing systems and deploy AI/ML models to improve mission performance.
• Build automated analysis tools and scripts to support OPIR mission processing and performance assessment.
• Contribute to development of future ground system evolutions and perform test/verification oversight.
