Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME is seeking a Veterinary Technician specializing in ophthalmology to join our Rarebreed practice. You’ll perform ophthalmic screenings, assist in procedures, monitor anesthesia, document findings, and educate clients under the veterinarian’s guidance.

The role requires at least 2 years in a veterinary hospital, strong phlebotomy and clinical skills, and excellent communication. Credentialed candidates (LVT, CVT, RVT) are strongly desired.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy experience.
• Detail-oriented and well organized.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive ophthalmic screening assessments for veterinary review.
• Assist in evaluating and documenting patient history and clinical findings.
• Monitor patients under general anesthesia during surgical procedures.
• Educate clients on ophthalmic conditions, disease processes and ocular anatomy.
• Provide post‑exam and post‑procedure instructions under veterinary direction.
