Job summary

The University of Georgia’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Athens is seeking a Veterinary Assistant II for the Ophthalmology service. You will support senior veterinary technicians and care for client-owned animals.

Responsibilities include providing intermediate animal care, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting clinicians with treatments. You will work in a fast-paced setting while upholding high standards of safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least 2 years of related experience.
• Experience handling large and small animals preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with confidentiality.
• Availability Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate animal care to patients: water, feed, transport, restrain, groom.
• Administer medication, monitor vital signs, take samples of bodily fluids.
• Establish effective working relationships with senior veterinary staff and clinicians.
• Stock supplies of cleaning products and patient care equipment.
