Job summary

Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Ophthalmology team in New York City. You will perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostics, assist with surgeries, and provide anesthesia and postoperative care while educating clients about ocular disease.

Qualifications

• Must have NYS Veterinary Technician’s license.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and autonomously under stress.
• Solid basic anesthesia skills; ophthalmology experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn ocular diseases and medications.

Responsibilities

• Perform ophthalmic diagnostic tests and assist with exams.
• Educate clients on ocular disease and care, including email communication.
• Assist with outpatient and surgical ophthalmic procedures; perform related duties.
• Provide anesthesia, surgical support, and post-operative recovery for various ASA levels.
• Place IV catheters, manage medications, and monitor sedation/anesthesia.
