NorTek Medical Staffing Inc. is seeking an experienced Refractive and Cataract Surgeon to join its growing ophthalmology team in Florida. The position offers a guaranteed base salary of $425,000 plus 30% of collections, with an established referral network and advanced surgical support.

The role features a full-time schedule (Mon–Fri) with no weekend shifts, remote call limited to telemedicine, and relocation assistance not offered. Immediate patient demand across Florida locations is expected.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and board-certified in Ophthalmology.
• Minimum three years post-training ophthalmology experience.
• Active Florida medical license or ability to obtain promptly.
• Proven cataract and refractive surgical experience.
• Fellowship in refractive surgery, cornea, or anterior segment preferred.
• Experience with laser vision-correction procedures and premium IOLs.
• Experience in a collaborative MD/OD care model.

Responsibilities

• Perform cataract, refractive cataract, and laser vision-correction procedures.

Build a High-Volume Refractive and Cataract Practice—Without Starting From Scratch

A respected, multi-location ophthalmology organization with more than 25 years of clinical excellence is seeking an experienced Refractive and Cataract Surgeon to join its growing surgical team.

This is not a “build it and hope they come” opportunity.

The incoming surgeon will step into an established organization with immediate patient demand, existing referral relationships, experienced clinical support, advanced surgical technology, and the infrastructure needed to develop a thriving cataract and refractive practice.

The organization operates multiple established locations throughout Florida, including the Tampa market, Sebring, and Gainesville. Its collaborative MD/OD model allows surgeons to focus on delivering excellent surgical outcomes while working alongside experienced optometrists, technicians, nurses, and administrative professionals.

This is an urgent, growth-critical hire created by existing patient demand and continued organizational expansion.

Clinical Focus

The organization is specifically seeking a surgeon with meaningful experience in:

• Premium and advanced-technology intraocular lenses
• Comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation and surgical care

Depending on the physician’s training and experience, procedures may include:

• LASIK
• PRK
• SMILE
• EVO Implantable Collamer Lenses
• Traditional cataract surgery
• Other advanced lens-based and vision-correction procedures

The organization’s strategic focus is cataract, refractive, laser, and lens-based care. This is not a retina-focused position.

What You Will Do

• Perform cataract, refractive cataract, and laser vision-correction procedures
• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic and surgical evaluations
• Develop individualized surgical and treatment plans
• Recommend appropriate premium lenses and refractive technologies
• Manage patients throughout the preoperative, surgical, and postoperative process
• Monitor surgical outcomes and adjust treatment plans when clinically appropriate
• Educate patients regarding available procedures, expectations, risks, and anticipated outcomes
• Work collaboratively with optometrists, technicians, nurses, and other members of the clinical team
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
• Remain current with developments in cataract surgery, refractive technology, premium lenses, and emerging vision-correction techniques
• Contribute to clinical growth, patient access, and the organization’s continued Florida expansion

Ideal Candidate

The ideal physician is an experienced, patient-centered ophthalmic surgeon who combines excellent surgical judgment with strong communication skills and a genuine interest in growing a high-quality refractive and cataract practice.

The successful candidate will be comfortable discussing premium surgical options with patients, collaborating within an integrated MD/OD model, and maintaining exceptional standards for safety, service, and clinical outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of an accredited ophthalmology residency
• Board certification in Ophthalmology
• Minimum of three years of post-training ophthalmology experience
• Active Florida medical license or the ability to obtain one promptly
• Demonstrated cataract and/or refractive surgical experience
• Strong surgical judgment and commitment to patient safety
• Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical environment

Strongly Preferred

• Fellowship training in refractive surgery, cornea, anterior segment, or a closely related field
• Experience performing laser vision-correction procedures
• Experience with premium and advanced-technology IOLs
• Familiarity with LASIK, PRK, SMILE, EVO ICL, and laser-assisted cataract surgery
• Experience working within a collaborative ophthalmologist/optometrist care model
• Eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, when applicable

This opportunity is designed for an experienced surgeon and is not currently targeting new graduates.

Schedule and Quality of Life

• Full-time, Monday through Friday
• Standard clinic hours of approximately 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Surgical days may begin around 6:30 a.m.
• No regularly scheduled evening shifts
• No holiday shifts
• Limited call consisting primarily of remote telephone or mobile coverage

Relocation assistance is not currently offered, so physicians already practicing in Florida or independently prepared to relocate are strongly preferred.

Streamlined Interview Process
