Job summary

Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island is seeking a fully trained Ophthalmic Technician 2 for a temporary clinic in Huntington, NY. You will handle pre-exam workups, patient history, and diagnostic testing to support physicians.

Ophthalmic Technician (Temp)

Salary Range: $22.00 To $24.00 Hourly

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a fully trained Ophthalmic Technician 2 with 2+ years of refracting experience. You’ll handle pre‑exam workups, patient history, and diagnostic testing—playing a key role in patient care and supporting our physicians in diagnosing and treating eye conditions.

What You’ll Do

• Apply anesthetic, dilating, and medicated drops
• Collect/process specimens
• Triage urgent cases and maintain clinic flow
• Prep rooms and assist physicians during procedures
• Perform basic equipment maintenance
• Follow infection‑control and confidentiality standards

What You’ll Need

Ability to work across all specialties and perform all ancillary tasks

Minimum 2 years refracting experience

Excellent verbal and written communication

Patient-focused, outgoing, and service‑oriented

Positive attitude; strong team player

Flexible and comfortable with change

Ocular pharmacology knowledge is a plus, not required

Ability to stand/walk frequently and lift up to 10 lbs
