Job summary

Whatcom Eye Surgeons in Washington is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. We are a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice committed to excellent patient care, diversity, and teamwork. Training is available for the right candidate.

You will perform eye workups, operate ophthalmic equipment, document exams, assist ophthalmologists, manage patient flow, and support in-office laser and procedures. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience as an ophthalmic assistant, COA or COT preferred.
  • Maintains appropriate education, certification, licensure, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Open and close exam lanes and ensure all supplies are stocked.
  • Communicate patient flow with the team to keep the schedules running on time.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and waiting area for patients.
  • Complete various documents and forms, such as consent forms, work releases, etc
  • Take patients' medical histories and perform ophthalmic diagnostic exams.
  • Operate ophthalmic equipment.
  • Sterilize ophthalmic instruments or equipment to maintain them.
  • Help instruct the patient in the care and treatment of eye conditions.
  • Ensure all medical records are accurate and complete.
  • Triage phone calls from patients and outside contacts.
  • Maintain flexibility and perform other duties as required.
