Responsibilities include patient care, maintaining clinic flow, HIPAA compliance, and operating diagnostic instruments such as OCT, visual fields, and refraction. Travel to nearby locations may be required; benefits and mileage reimbursement offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current COA or COT certification preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates excellent patient care and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service during patient encounters (in person or via phone).
  • Greet patients promptly, maintain professionalism, and express appreciation on departure.
  • Anticipate physician needs to support clinic flow.
  • Maintain urgency regarding patient and doctor timelines.
  • Comply with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Verify patient information through interviews.
  • Record medical history and current medications.
  • Document data in EMR accurately and thoroughly.
  • Assess eye condition via visual acuity, pupils, and ocular movements.
  • Perform tests such as dilation, refraction, pressures, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL Master, auto refractor, and topography.
  • Open/close exam rooms and keep rooms stocked.
  • Support general office duties as assigned.
