The Ophthalmic Technician provides advanced clinical support to Ophthalmologists and Residents in the delivery of acute, inpatient, and ambulatory eye care services. This role is responsible for performing specialized ophthalmic diagnostic testing, assisting with comprehensive patient evaluations, and supporting minor procedures. The Ophthalmic Technician works collaboratively with the care team to ensure efficient clinic operations, accurate diagnostic data collection, and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
This is also split role that will support neuro ophthalmology two days a week.
Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
3 days in Wilmington, DE
2 days in Newark, DE

The Ophthalmic Technician II performs advanced ophthalmic testing and imaging, including visual acuity assessments, refractions, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography. This role supports Ophthalmologists and Residents by obtaining patient histories, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, assisting with hospital‑based and office procedures, administering ophthalmic medications, supporting emergency and inpatient consults, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment to ensure the delivery of high‑quality patient care.
High school diploma or GED required
Certified by IJCAHPO (International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) required or complete certification within 1 year post hire date
Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association
At least three (3) years of ophthalmic technician experience- preferred

Hourly Pay Range: $23.85 - $35.78
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
