Qualifications

  • Experience in ocular assessment techniques and patient interaction.
  • Ability to manage office inventory and maintain cleanliness.
  • Familiarity with imaging procedures such as OCT and Fundus Photos.

Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Refractometry: auto-refractor, transposing scripts from + to -
  • Contact lenses: insertion, removal, and instructions
  • Pupillary assessment: measurement, comparison, and evaluation
  • History taking: ocular, medical, medication, social, and family history
  • Lensometry: automated and manual
  • Angle assessment & dilation of pupils
  • Assist with maintaining office inventory, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and cleaning patient exam rooms at the end of the day
  • Visual fields: Amsler grid & confrontation fields
  • Supplemental skills: color testing, glare test
  • Ocular motility: knowledge of functions & anomalies, cover tests, stereo-acuity, nystagmus
  • Tonometry: Icare, Tonopen, and proper disinfection
  • Visual acuity assessment: with and without correction, distance, near, intermediate, pinhole, best corrected, potential acuity, brightness acuity
  • Perform patient intake including medical history, medication review, vital signs, visual acuity, IOP, motility, confrontational fields, pupil assessment, and dilation
Additional duties:
  • Preparing patients for procedures and assisting physicians during procedures
  • Performing imaging such as HVF, OCT, Fundus Photos, Slit Lamp Photos, A-scans
  • Cleaning and restocking exam rooms, opening/closing duties
  • Managing administrative tasks: in-baskets, patient messages, voicemails, reschedules, schedule preparation, and other duties as assigned
