Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician 1 (OT1) for a full-time role in Miami, Florida. The OT1 will perform and document comprehensive ophthalmic testing in the EMR, support providers during patient care, and ensure accuracy in exams such as visual fields, intraocular pressure, refractions, and color vision tests.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and a Basic Life Support certification.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant ophthalmic experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents clinical testing in the EMR system.
• Supports providers with patient workups and patient care.
• Handles eye care procedures such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and eye drop administration.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to infection control standards.
• Organizes and stocks clinical supplies; assists in clinical research as needed.
• Travels to satellite centers when required; works evenings and weekends as needed.
