EyeSouth Partners in Gadsden, AL, is seeking an ophthalmic technician to support ophthalmologists and optometrists, performing clinical tests and data entry in EMR.

You will collect ocular and systemic histories, assist with in-office procedures, administer medications, and educate patients, while contributing to a clean, compliant clinical environment. Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment

Aufgaben

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy
• Perform tests ordered by the doctor according to exam type
• Act as a medical scribe entering data into EMR
• Take ocular and systemic histories and record visual acuity
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction
• Assist with simple in-office procedures and obtain informed consent
• Assist with patient education
• Maintain exam room cleanliness and orderliness
• Comply with practice procedures and state and federal regulations

Gadsden Eye Associates has a 30 year tradition of providing complete surgical and medical eye care services. Our courteous staff is essential to our mission to provide excellent eye care in a compassionate environment.

Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist and optometrists by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s ocular health status. The ophthalmic technician is proficient in performing appropriate clinical tests, drawing on formal education and/or clinical experience that provide a solid understanding of the theory and principles of eye care.

Clinical

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
• Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records
• Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.
• Assists with patient education.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
• Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.

Administrative

• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership timely and as needed for supply ordering
• Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as planned and required.
• Understand and accept responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer
• Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
• Maintain positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism
• High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred

• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
