Job summary

EyeSouth Partners seeks an Ophthalmic Technician for our Westside clinic with travel to Downtown. You will assist ophthalmologists, perform tests, and document patient data in the EMR. The role emphasizes accuracy, patient care, and teamwork in a fast-paced eye-care setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred.
• Ophthalmic/optometric technician experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Perform testing ordered by physician based on exam type/history.
• Act as a medical scribe during examinations and enter data into EMR.
• Record ocular history and visual acuity accurately.
• Assist with medications under physician direction.
• Help with simple in-office procedures and informed consent.
• Support patient education and maintain exam room cleanliness.
• Report inventory needs and participate in team meetings.

MidWest Eye Center has a complete roster of board-certified Ophthalmologists, Retina Specialists and Optometrists, offering diagnosis along with surgical and non-surgical treatment for eye diseases MidWest Eye Center’s Cincinnati, Ohio and Northern Kentucky locations are easily accessible from the surrounding Tri-state area.

Responsible for assisting the ophthalmologist and optometrists by gathering data pertaining to the patient’s ocular health status. The ophthalmic technician is proficient in performing appropriate clinical tests, drawing on formal education and/or clinical experience that provide a solid understanding of the theory and principles of eye care.

The primary location for this position is our Westside clinic. Travel also required to our Downtown location.

Clinical

• Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Perform testing ordered by doctor and determined by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint and/or patient history.
• Ability to act as a medical scribe while physician examines patient, entering data into electronic medical records
• Takes an ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
• Ability to assist with simple in-office procedures ensures proper informed consent is obtained.
• Assists with patient education.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the workday.
• Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.

Administrative

• Report inventory and supply needs to leadership timely and as needed for supply ordering
• Participate in daily team huddles and regularly scheduled meetings as planned and required.
• Understand and accept responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to supervisor or Compliance Officer
• Contribute to the team effort by completing additional tasks or projects as needed.
• Maintain positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism
• High School Diploma or the equivalent years related experience preferred
• Nextech/ICP experience strongly preferred
• Ophthalmic and/or optometric technician experience preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
