Job summary

Hauser Ross Eye Institute in Sycamore, IL, is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician I for a full-time, on-site role. The position involves preparing patients, performing pre-exam tests, and assisting doctors during procedures. Travel to other locations may be required to support clinics.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of ophthalmic tech experience. COA/COT and OSC certifications are preferred and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly with patients, staff, managers, and doctors.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Scribe (OSC) preferred.
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients to see ophthalmologist and/or optometrist and conduct preliminary exam.
• Perform pre-exam testing including visual acuity, tonometry, color vision, and dry eye testing.
• Assist with minor surgical procedures or laser treatments in the office.
• Assist with fitting contact lenses and patient instructions.
• Maintain and inventory medications and ophthalmic instruments.
• Open and close exam lanes daily and ensure equipment is clean and ready.
