Job summary

Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician for the Cornea Consult department. The role involves obtaining a complete medical history, visual acuity tests, lensometry, tonometry, pupil dilation, and autorefractometry under the direct supervision of the ophthalmologist or optometrist.

This is a full-time 40-hour-per-week position with patient interaction and a focus on eye health.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• COA after two (2) years on the job required.
• Two (2) years of clinical/healthcare experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to the physician with examination procedures and other patient care activities as requested.
• Oversees the efficient flow of patients through the eye clinic, assuring that resources are sufficient for scheduled patients and that they are directed appropriately.
• Performs lensometry, including reading lenses with multifocal and progressive adds, power of sphere, axis of cylinder power and orientation of prism.
• Performs intraocular pressure assessments through applanation tonometry and tonopen.
• Instills dilating drops per physician's instructions.
• Interacts and communicates in a professional manner with fellow employees, medical staff and other health team professionals.
• Ensures exam rooms are stocked with instruments, handouts, and materials as required by physicians.

Wills Eye Hospital is hiring a Ophthalmic Technician in Philadelphia, PA for our Cornea Consult department. In this role, you'll provide a variety of preliminary ocular assessment activities, including but not limited to, obtaining a complete and accurate medical history, visual acuity and stereo testing, lensometry, motility, applanation tonometry, pupil dilation, potential acuity meter testing and, and manifest refraction/autorefractometry under the direct supervision of the Ophthalmologist/Optometrist. This is a Full-Time 40 hours per week opportunity for someone who wants to have patient interaction without high-stress critical care, who has an interest in eye health and vision care, and wants to expand their knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Instills dilating drops (and other ophthalmic drops) per physician's instructions.
• Interacts and communicates in a professional manner with fellow employees, medical staff and other health team professionals.
• Ensures that exam rooms are stocked with appropriate instruments, as well as patient handouts, & any other equipment/materials, as required by physicians.
