Job summary

VillageMD is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support the clinical team by performing specialized diagnostic testing, assisting physicians, and ensuring efficient outpatient operations in a fast-paced ophthalmology clinic.

This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a patient-first approach. Candidates should have a high school diploma, ophthalmic certification preferred, and flexibility to cover full-time shifts including rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ophthalmic Assistant Certification or COT preferred.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent bedside manner.
• Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 45 wpm).
• Flexibility to work full-time hours, including rotating weekends.
• Bilingual skills required or preferred depending on site location.
• Ability to commute to satellite office locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists the doctor in patient care promptly and professionally.
• Performs diagnostic testing and patient interviews.
• Maintains and cleans ophthalmic equipment; reports issues.
• Interviews patients and documents histories.
• Performs specialized ophthalmic testing (refractions, keratometry, tonometry, HVF, OCT).
• Scribes when the doctor desires.
• Communicates tests, procedures and expectations to patients.
