Job summary

VillageMD in Connecticut is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support the clinical team by performing specialized diagnostic testing and assisting physicians in patient care within our ophthalmology department.

This full-time outpatient role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and good communication, with the ability to work across New Britain and Berlin, CT locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• JCAHPO Ophthalmic Assistant Certification or COT preferred.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent bedside manner.
• Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 45 wpm).
• Flexibility to work full-time hours, including rotating weekends.
• Passion for helping others in outpatient clinical settings.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assists doctor promptly and professionally in patient care.
• Performs technical workups, patient interviews and tests.
• Communicates follow-up care, surgeries, and scheduling to patients.
• Maintains and cleans equipment; reports issues to supervisor.
