Job summary

The University of Rochester’s Ophthalmology department is hiring for a diagnostic testing technician. You will perform OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, and ocular imaging in support of multiple subspecialties, with patient-facing responsibilities and clinical-clerical duties.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 1–2 years of related clinical experience, and relevant ophthalmology certification. Flexibility to work extended hours is required in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1-2 years of closely related clinical experience or training/coursework in optometry, ophthalmology or related field required.
• 4-year college education with related ophthalmology/technical certification; or 2-year college + 2 years lab experience preferred.
• Certification by relevant ophthalmology certifying body required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic testing or services in ophthalmology subspecialties (cornea, glaucoma, retina, etc.).
• Perform OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, corneal topography, ocular biometry, and imaging.
• Provide coverage for ultrasound, angiography, slitlamp, and other imaging modalities.
• Assist with clinical clerical duties, scheduling checks, data entry, and supply stocking.
