Ochsner LSU Health is offering an Ophthalmic Technician Apprentice position as part of its Workforce Development Program. The role blends formal instruction, clinical rotations, and on‑the‑job training to prepare you for advancement to an Ophthalmic Technician.

Under licensed supervision, you will learn to support ophthalmology clinic operations, perform basic ophthalmic assessments, and handle patient care tasks while completing required competencies and milestones.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• BLS certification required or to be obtained soon after hire.
• Certified Ophthalmology Assistant and Technician certifications to be obtained during apprenticeship.
• Ability to learn ophthalmic clinical procedures and workflows under supervision.

Responsabilités

• Participate in structured ophthalmic technician apprenticeship with coursework, rotations, and on-the-job training.
• Meet learning milestones and competency expectations.
• Assist in managing patient flow in exam rooms and prepare patient information.
• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, and provider visits under supervision.
• Maintain exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment.
