Works under the direction of the practice manager in assisting the ophthalmologist and clinical staff in the practice center performing a variety of tasks and the procedures necessary in determining patients' diagnosis and treatment. Under supervision, demonstrates technical expertise and clinical judgement by applying problem solving techniques, integrating advanced skills and knowledge base into clinical practice. EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent, successful completion of JCAHPO approved program for ophthalmic assistance/technicians
EXPERIENCE
At least one year as an ophthalmic assistant or tech.
LICENSURE
Certified as an ophthalmic technician, ophthalmic assistant, and maintains certification requirements every 3 years.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families, providers and members of the healthcare team.
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Ability to perform tasks identified in the job description requires use of body mechanics, physical endurance and dexterity
