Job summary

Ophthalmology Assoc in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to perform preliminary eye examinations and diagnostic tests under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.   • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an ophthalmic technician preferred.
  • Experience in a medical setting, preferably ophthalmology or optometry.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical coding and billing practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and patient care.

Salary Range: $18.00 To $26.00 Hourly

Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Perform preliminary eye examinations and diagnostic tests under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.
  • Record patient medical history, including any allergies, medications, and previous surgeries.
  • Assist with patient education and provide instructions for post-operative care.
  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment for procedures.
  • Perform visual acuity tests, visual field tests, and tonometry measurements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records.
  • Travel Required.
  • Group Specialty: Comprehensive, Glaucoma, Cornea, and Retina
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as an ophthalmic technician preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and procedures.
  • Familiarity with medical coding and billing practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and patient care.
