Job summary

Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support providers and manage clinical functions across our ophthalmology department. The role requires travel to Land O' Lakes and Tampa, with Monday–Friday hours and a variable full‑time status.

You will assist examinations, perform diagnostic studies, process refill requests, and handle patient communication while ensuring accurate charting and adherence to policy and safety standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Power start‑of‑day equipment and prepare keratometer/autorefraction rooms as needed.
  • Properly room patients and assist the physician during examinations.
  • Perform diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the provider.
  • Process medication refill requests and complete forms for patients.
  • Handle patient and clinical messages and provide patient education.
  • Prepare charts and ensure ordered tests are completed and recorded.
  • Complete end‑of‑day procedures and maintain policy compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and support clinical supplies.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Completes the start of day processes, including powering equipment and uncovering keratometer/autoreftracter, visial field,Ascan room if needed.
  • Properly rooms patients based on standard operating procedures and assists the physician during the examination and procedures.
  • Performs diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the provider
  • Processes and assists provider with requests, including handling medication refill requests and completing forms requested by patients.
  • Handles patient and clinical messages:
  • Distributes, reviews, and teaches patient education
  • Prepares and processes paperwork for the charts; make sure ordered tests have been performed and results are present.
  • Completes the end of day processes per standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
