Job summary

Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to support providers and manage clinical functions in the department. This position travels to Land O' Lakes and Tampa, with a Monday‑Friday schedule and variable full‑time status.

You will start up daily equipment, room patients, perform diagnostic studies, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures. Education requires a high school diploma; strong customer service and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Starts up day by powering equipment and preparing keratometer/autoreflecter and other rooms as needed.
• Rooms patients according to procedures and assists physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Performs diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the provider.
• Handles medication refill requests and completes forms requested by patients.
• Manages patient communications and educates patients as directed.
• Prepares charts and ensures tests are completed and results are present.
• Completes end-of-day processes and maintains attendance according to policies.
• Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Completes the start of day processes, including powering equipment and uncovering keratometer/autoreflecter, visial field,Ascan room if needed.
• Properly rooms patients based on standard operating procedures and assists the physician during the examination and procedures.
• Performs diagnostic studies and treatments as ordered by the provider
• Processes and assists provider with requests, including handling medication refill requests and completing forms requested by patients.
• Handles patient and clinical messages:
• Distributes, reviews, and teaches patient education
• Prepares and processes paperwork for the charts; make sure ordered tests have been performed and results are present.
• Completes the end of day processes per standard operating procedures.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
