Job summary

Boston Vision is seeking enthusiastic Ophthalmic Technicians for our Andover practice to perform preliminary patient workups and assist physicians in eye care. The role includes collecting records, testing eye function, and supporting Lasik procedures under supervision. A full in-house training program is provided for new hires.

Travel between clinics is required with travel reimbursement; strong customer service and multitasking skills are highly valued for delivering quality patient care.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; in-house training program provided.
• Clinical background in roles such as CNA, MA, Pharmacy Technician, EMT, Nursing Assistant or PCT/PCA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary work up of the patient to facilitate physician diagnosis and treatment.
• Gather past medical records and conduct eye function and diagnostic testing as needed.
• Administer eye medications under physician direction and maintain instruments; assist in Lasik procedures.

Job Description

$3,000 retention bonus available for full time Ophthalmic Technicians. Under the supervision of Lead Ophthalmic Technician, we are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to serve as an Ophthalmic Technician on our growing team at our Andover practice. This position will require travel between our other clinics as needed. Travel reimbursement is available. The technician team performs duties of a clinical assistant specializing in anatomy, function, and diseases of the eye. Technicians facilitate patient care by performing the preliminary "work up" of the patient. This includes gathering all past medical records, performing preliminary eye function and diagnostic testing needed for the physician to diagnose and treat such eye conditions. Under the direction of the physician, technicians may administer eye medications and maintain optical and surgical instruments as well as assist in surgical procedures such as Lasik Eye Surgery. No prior experience is required as we offer a full in-house training program. Clinical background in roles such as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Pharmacy Technician, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician (PCT or PCA) is a plus. Ophthalmic Technicians are highly skilled. This role can be a lifetime career or a stepping-stone to other opportunities in healthcare. Nationally recognized certifications can be achieved after about 1-year in this role. Such certifications are funded by the practice to enable our team to achieve success. Full Time position, Monday-Friday, variation 8:00am-5:00pm

Boston Vision currently has 7 locations in the Metro-Boston area. We ask our staff to be open to assisting in other locations as the business demands. Additional mileage is reimbursed as a travel expense. Strong candidates should have the ability to provide situational leadership, exceptional diplomatic communication skills, and experience in handling difficult customer situations. Must be detailed oriented and have the ability to multitask. A proven track record in advanced high level customer service and follow through is a plus.
