This is an exciting time to join Moorfields. The pandemic accelerated innovation, transforming how we work and deliver care. Construction is underway on Oriel, our new eye care, research, and education centre in Camden, which will bring healthcare, eye research, and education together under one roof for the first time.
The full-time job plan includes 8 clinical sessions and 2 administrative sessions. Clinical duties may involve medical retina, glaucoma, primary eye care, and acute eye clinics, depending on experience. The main hospital base will be Moorfields Eye Unit at Bedford Hospital.
The role includes First On Call duties from 5 pm to 9 am the next day and weekend cover from 9 am Saturday to 9 am Monday, with details to be discussed at interview and included in the employment contract.
The postholder will be responsible for patient care and management within the trust.
Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a license to practice. Candidates should have 4 years of postgraduate training or equivalent experience, including part-time or flexible arrangements.
All doctors must maintain a portfolio of their career over the last 5 years to meet GMC revalidation requirements. Supporting documentation, including recent appraisals, will be required upon joining.

The postholder is responsible for patient care and service functionality, including delegation and staff training.
They must manage clinics daily and ensure outpatient and inpatient services during absences. Participation in shared care involves advising other clinicians on ocular issues. All medical staff are expected to participate in audits, clinical governance, annual training, and continuous professional development, including appraisals.
