UVA Health seeks an Ophthalmic Photographer to join a highly specialized Ophthalmology team in Charlottesville. You will perform advanced diagnostic imaging to support clinicians in diagnosing and managing complex eye conditions, collaborating with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma.
• Experience: At least one year of relevant experience, more experience preferred.
• Licensure: COA-Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification by JCAHPO may be required. See job requisition for position certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform ophthalmic diagnostic imaging including fundus photography, OCT, OCT-A, fluorescein angiography, external photography, corneal topography/tomography, and other specialty imaging as needed.
• Prepare patients for imaging procedures and provide clear instructions to ensure high-quality diagnostic results.
• Review images for accuracy and quality, ensuring studies are appropriately labeled and uploaded into the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with providers and care teams to ensure imaging is completed efficiently and aligned with patient care needs.
• Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment while supporting quality control standards.
• Assist with imaging workflow education and training for clinical staff as appropriate.
• Support documentation, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research activities when needed.
• Contribute to a fast-paced, highly specialized clinical environment focused on teamwork, patient safety, innovation, and continuous learning.

The Role

As an Ophthalmic Photographer, you will perform a variety of specialized diagnostic imaging procedures that support the clinical evaluation and treatment of patients with ophthalmic conditions. Working closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and clinical staff, you will help ensure the accurate collection and management of imaging data while contributing to an efficient and positive patient experience.

In An Average Day, You Will

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 – 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $24.24 - $38.78 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
