Job description

Overview

Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking an Ophthalmic Photographer to join our innovative team with the mission of Fighting Blindness For The World To See. This position is responsible for providing accurate fundus, anterior segment, and external photography as ordered by the eye care provider while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status within a high‑volume practice. The role is based at the Bellaire Clinic.

Candidates must be able to travel to various clinics to meet the needs of patients and providers and support clinic hours Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Schedules are provided weekly and are based on the provider’s clinic, patient, and surgery schedules. Clinic staff also have the opportunity for weekend hours if available.

Responsibilities
  • Perform fundus, anterior segment, and external photography as ordered by the eye care provider.
  • Perform intravenous fluorescein angiographies and/or indocyanine green angiographies as ordered.
  • Perform scanning computerized ophthalmic diagnostic imaging (e.g., OCT, HRT) as ordered.
  • Obtain informed consent for angiographies.
  • Process film, mount and label slides, and maintain film log and digital backups regularly.
  • Maintain cameras, related equipment, and inventory of supplies.
  • Maintain patient‑related imaging records.
  • Maintain records of work performed.
  • Obtain images for physician presentations as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Two to three years of experience in ophthalmic photography and digital imaging.
  • CRA and JCAHPO certification preferred.
  • CPR certification required.

  • Strong team orientation.
Physical Abilities
  • Requires normal range of eyesight to perform photographing and developing tasks.
  • Ability to work in a small, dim‑lit or dark room.
