Job summary

University of Michigan Medicine seeks a Nursing Supervisor to provide professional nursing leadership and administrative direction for nursing practice in the Kellogg Eye Center Operating Rooms. You will supervise nursing staff, surgical techs, and support personnel, coordinate staffing and on-call coverage, and participate in recruitment, quality improvement and patient care initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required or RN with MSN
• Minimum five (5) years of RN experience
• Minimum two (2) years of recent OR RN experience
• Nurse Leadership certification or completion within two years
• Evidence of leadership ability such as charge nurse or team leader

Responsibilities

• Lead staffing, scheduling and budget planning for the unit
• Supervise, mentor, counsel and evaluate staff
• Develop and foster teamwork and communication with leadership and physicians
• Coordinate instrument processing, equipment evaluation and vendor access
• Participate in quality improvement activities and unit-based research initiatives
