Job summary

The Yale Eye Center in New Haven seeks an experienced ophthalmic technician to support physicians in performing diagnostic tests and advanced imaging. You will operate specialized equipment and conduct preliminary screenings to aid diagnosis.

Ideal candidates have extensive ophthalmic testing experience, including A-scan, keratometry, OCT and IOL Master, with certification options and on-site work in Yale’s Ophthalmology and Visual Science Department.

Qualifications

• Six years of related experience; or four years with an Associate’s Degree; or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• Experience in diagnostic testing for ophthalmic practice including A-scan, keratometry, refractions, topography, and IOL Master.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs specialized ophthalmic testing procedures.
• Performs preliminary screening examinations for physician review.
• Sets up, operates, and maintains testing equipment; assists patient transfers.
• Provides information to patients about specific tests and records results.
