Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to support patient workups, perform diagnostic tests, and maintain smooth clinic flow. You will assist with lensometry, acuity testing, and other protocol-based procedures while delivering excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AAO home study completion preferred.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing patient workups and preliminary tests including visual acuity, patient history, lensometry and other tests in accordance with protocol.
• Performing diagnostic tests such as keratometry, topography, tonometry, pachymetry and visual fields as indicated.
• Facilitates efficient patient flow by monitoring schedules and medical records; communicates with OD/MD as necessary.
• Triaging patient calls and resolving concerns to achieve patient satisfaction.
• Ensuring opening/closing, maintenance and stocking of exam lanes and work areas.
• Sending prescriptions to pharmacies and handling prior authorizations as needed.
• Participating in regular team meetings and reporting team progress for coordination.
• Ongoing professional self-development to enhance training and skills.
