Job summary

Citizens Health is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join the full-time team at Citizens Medical Center Specialty Clinic in Colby, KS. The role involves reviewing charts, conducting ophthalmic tests, and assisting the ophthalmologist throughout patient care.

You will help with scribing, data entry, medications, and patient education while upholding clinic procedures and regulatory standards. Some evenings and Saturdays may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Prefer Certified Ophthalmic Assistant; willing to train to certification.
• Must have good computer skills and data entry abilities.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy and perform testing as scheduled.
• Act as scribe while physician examines patient and enters data into EMR or paper chart.
• Record ocular and systemic history and visual acuity accurately.
• Perform lensometry, refractometry, tonometry, and basic muscle balance testing.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under physician direction.
• Assist with in-office procedures and ensure informed consent is obtained.
• Set up and clean up from procedures and perform advance ophthalmic procedures.
• Assist in training other ophthalmic assistants.
• Educate patients and maintain clean, orderly exam rooms.
• Comply with policies, report errors, and maintain professional conduct.
