Job summary

Spokane Eye Clinic, part of Prism Vision Group, seeks an ophthalmic assistant to support physicians in exams and testing. Responsibilities include chart reviews, history taking, and performing tests such as OCT, visual fields, and pachymetry. The candidate will act as a scribe and assist with medication administration.

Certification MA-R from Washington state must be obtained within 60 days of employment. GED or higher education preferred; 0-2 years OA1 experience or 2+ years OAII experience are

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
  • OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: accuracy, communication, reliability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
  • Perform tests (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry) per exam.
  • Conduct slit lamp exams including tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
  • Act as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications; assist with procedures.
