Job summary

American Vision Partners in Prescott, AZ is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to prepare patients for exams, collect medical information, and perform preliminary tests to support doctors and provide an exceptional patient experience.

You will conduct vision tests, assist in procedures, maintain exam rooms, and help educate patients on conditions and treatments. A High School diploma is required and ophthalmology experience is preferred; COA/COT is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Ophthalmology preferred.
  • COA, COT is a plus.
  • Detail oriented; reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule working Monday-Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Welcomes patients and visitors with a positive, warm disposition.
  • Keeps doctors’ rooms filled to ensure clinic patient flow.
  • Obtains patient histories through intake assessments and notes findings in EHR.
  • Performs visual acuity, auto-refraction, lensometry, tonometry and keratometry tests.
  • Checks pupils, extra-ocular muscles, and dilates eyes with eye drops.
  • Runs diagnostic tests such as Immersion A-scan, OCTs and Visual Fields.
  • Administers color vision, depth perception and Schirmer’s testing as needed.
  • Assists in minor office procedures (lasers, excisions, etc.).
  • Educates patients on ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures.
  • Maintains exam rooms, including cleaning/sterilization as necessary.
