The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides technical support and assistance to the Ophthalmic Physicians to facilitate the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients receiving specialized ophthalmic care.
Associates degree preferred or at least two years of specialized training in a relevant field. Successful completion of an accredited program for Ophthalmic Assistants/Technicians or equivalent, plus a minimum of six months of satisfactory full-time work under ophthalmologic supervision. Must be certified as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant by JCAHPO.
Requires current experience within the last two years as an ophthalmic technician or assistant, or an equivalent combination of education and medical experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities may be acquired. Candidates with no experience or certification may be considered as Ophthalmic Assist Trainee. The starting rate for this role is $20.00/hour.
