Washington University Ophthalmology seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to provide administrative and technical support in a clinical setting on the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis.

The position is full-time with on-campus responsibilities, assisting with patient care, chart preparation, testing, and lens care guidance. Primary duties include scheduling, patient greeting, billing verification, and maintaining exam rooms and supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• 2 years in a medical office setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients.
• Familiarity with ophthalmology workflow is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient records and schedule appointments in IDX.
• Answer phones, greet patients, verify billing, prepare charts.
• Assist with clinical work up: visual acuity, pressures, keratometry, refraction.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and handling.
• Maintain exam rooms, inventories, and clean instruments.

Modifies and/or polishes contacts.* Maintains inventory of materials and cleans instruments.
