Job summary

Washington University Ophthalmology is seeking a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (Float) to provide advanced administrative and technical support in a busy clinic. You will perform visual fields testing, collect patient history, and assist with testing and clinic workups under the physician's guidance.

The role includes contact lens instruction, A-scan ultrasound, and support for minor surgical procedures, with an emphasis on accuracy, patient care, and efficient workflow in a hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support certification required; online BLS without skills assessment not sufficient.
• 1 year of experience supervising an ophthalmology office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs kinetic and static visual fields tests (Goldman & Humphrey).
• Assists with patient history and clinic workups.
• Explains office evaluations and physician instructions to patients.
• Performs refractions, keratometry, tonography and tonometry.
• Inserts/removes contact lenses and provides lens instructions.
• Conducts Brightness Acuity Test and PAM testing.
• Performs A-scan ultrasound testing.
• Assists physicians with minor surgical procedures.
