US Eye in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our patient-focused eye care team. This full-time role offers hands-on training alongside renowned ophthalmic surgeons and optometrists, developing skills in diagnostic testing, patient histories, and pre-exam procedures.

We value a strong customer service mindset and a willingness to learn. High school diploma or GED required; previous medical or ophthalmic experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing roles is preferred.
• Previous exposure to medical/eye care is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and grow in ophthalmic care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care alongside ophthalmologists and optometrists.
• Take patient histories and gather relevant medical information.
• Perform pre-exam tasks and assist with diagnostic testing.
• Assist and provide patients with courteous service and information about treatments.
• Conduct tonometry to measure intraocular pressure.
• Measure visual acuity and document results.
• Assist with administration of topical or oral medications.
• Support vision testing and field assessments.
• Instruct patients on contact lens care and use.
• Maintain patient comfort and safety during exams.
• Travel to other locations as needed.
