Carolina Eyecare Physicians in the Charleston area is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant. You will receive hands-on training alongside experienced ophthalmic surgeons and optometrists, contributing to patient care and vision improvement.

Entry-level position with full training; travel to other locations may be required; strong emphasis on customer service and teamwork. This role offers a pathway into ophthalmology with clinical responsibilities and patient interaction.

Qualifications

• Experience within a professional environment with a strong customer service focus
• Previous experience within the medical field (preferred)
• High School Diploma or GED required, willing to train the right person, experience in optometry or ophthalmology a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide patient care.
• Take histories, perform procedures and tests, and prepare patients to see the doctor.
• Provide important information to help diagnose and treat patients.
• Assist and provide patients with excellent customer service and any necessary information regarding treatment.
• Conduct tonometry tests to measure intraocular pressure.
• Measure visual acuity.
• Take and document patients' medical histories.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Conduct visual field tests to measure field of vision.
• Instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses.
