Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • OA1: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
  • OAII: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
  • Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
  • Perform exams and tests as scheduled (OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
  • Perform lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exams, tonometry, and related assessments.
  • Assist with scribe duties and data entry into EMR.
  • Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
  • Ensure informed consent and assist with patient education.
  • Manage patient flow and maintain exam room cleanliness.
  • Adhere to practice procedures, regulations, and reporting of errors.
  • Maintain professional attitude.
